I want to post about sooo many things -- but I just don't know where to begin.

Or where to even end, if you know, I do decide to begin.

Gah, this is what happens when you take a break and come home to ~~enrollment~~ chaos. Well, not really. But I bet that's part of the reason.

It's a strange feeling;

to feel so lost even though there's a path laid out for you;

to feel like you hit the brick wall you (thought you) just demolished.

I think my head is playing tricks with me again.

Maybe I should go hermit for a few days. Stay at home, clean my room, fix my internet life, play video games -- you know, slack off ~~from everything~~ in general, do relaxing things -- sort of -- like I used to when I was in high school. I think... it'll do me some good.

It feels like it'll be a breath of fresh air.

Somehow.

On the brighter side, I had a dream and it went like this:

I was in St. Paul, in my highschool uniform, and guess what. I had Influenza A(H1N1)! So it was really retarded, everyone else was running around me as if the fire drill alarm had been sounded, and I had to rush to the clinic in the midst of the rampaging students and teachers shouting "H1N1 OUTBREAK!" (And how could it be an outbreak if it was just me?)

Anyway, there were even strange ugly marks around my body -- like the ones when you have the pox. So Sacla said,

"Are you sure that's H1N1 and not Chicken Pox?"

And I replied, "Hey, you're right! I've never gotten Chicken Pox before."

And Sacla* smiled, and I smiled, and Kyoy* thought we were retarded.

And I woke up.

Well, its not so much the bright side, I guess, but its kind of funny, eh?

Hellooo, you guys! How I missed you so! Apologies are in order -- for again, I have failed to keep my resolution to finally make worth of my paid account. It was on hiatus for some months, wasn't it -- and without notice, too boot. Uguuu. I am very sorry.

I missed you guys so much! My whole internet life has been down on the dumps, recently. It's painful, you know? (Errr, unless you count in my recent addiction to Playfish's Restaurant City on Facebook. Uhhh, but besides that, you know, and a dozen more Facebook applications and quizzes, it has been pretty down on the dumps. No, don't give me that look, I'm being serious!)

Anyway!

How are you guys? Update me as much as you'd like (comment, link me to one of your posts, etc), I'd really love it. As for me... well, a dozen things have been happening and I guess I really do have a million things to talk about. But that's for later, and I'll be posting regularly again anyway (I hope) so I'll try to catch up through that.

For now, I'd like you guys to see the proud "triplet-volt-in!" work of me, Kyoy, and Sacla! (Mostly with Kyoy directing. :3 After all, she's the layout expert, woohoo!)

On a random note, my chemistry lab professor is epic. He tells us to submit our formal reports on Monday but actually means Wednesday then explains, "I said Monday because I knew you'd do it during the weekends. If I'd said Wednesday, you'd cram it on Tuesday."

Wew. Sudden change of events, but he rocks, and I'm not complaining.

Just so that this post will have something fandom-related, because really, I haven't fangirled in a long time over this journal -- so allow me to take the opportunity to BECAUSE EDEN OF THE EAST 05 JUST MADE AKIRA HOTTER THAN HE ALREADY WAS AND--

Oh right. Spoilers underneath the cut, ahem.

Because seriously. You're down in the dumps, got rejected on a job interview, had gyudon spilled over your skirt, found out said gyudon spilling was intentional, and really, you're in love with your brother-in-law but he's your brother-in-law for a reason -- and that is, he's married to your sister. Then you walk out of that stupid company without any dignity left and feel the whole world is against you, but then AKIRA SHOWS UP WITH HIS AWESOME SCOOTER AND WHISKS YOU AWAY TO THE EDGE OF THE SEA AND YOU CRY AND YOU TALK AND HE KISSES YOU AND TELLS YOU TO COME HOME WITH HIM.

I want to be Saki. ;A;

Okay, so maybe smooth guy Akira Takizawa was taking advantage of the moment, and plainlinux did say "he just wants to take her home" but yeah. I mean Saki's seen him naked anyway (though not intentionally!) and they've been to America together (sort of).

Plus he owns a mall. And has a dog with wings. WHAT KIND OF GUY PLACES PLASTIC WINGS ON HIS DOG.

Akira, apparently.

And that just makes him awesome.

Okay, so on the other hand Oosugi is really pitiful and I seriously don't want to him to die under the hands of Number 11, but sorry dude, you just lost to a guy who's dog has wings. Seriously. You just can't beat that.

(Now I told wuzu (we watched the episode together) to get a scooter (lol yeah random) but I don't think there's any nice sea to whisk away to. Although I do think he's the type of person to put plastic wings on his dog. Or more likely, make his dog wear a plastic armor. You can imagine him doing it. Making it, even. He'd even probably like that.)

Okay, so Eden of the East is really much deeper than all my fangirling above, but I'm sorry, I just couldn't hold it in. :3 The build-up of this episode was just so good, and the feelings just worked their way through me -- so intensely -- without me knowing.

I've never been so involved with an anime that has little episodes to go on before. Well, not like this. I can't wait for it to progress. Here's hoping it'll end as wonderfully as it began. o/

it's gonna rain

In this week of scorching heat -- well, last Monday, it rained.

Unfortunately, I had face the downpour without an umbrella. It was like taking a second bath. I arrived at the AME tambayan soaked with wuzu appropriately scolding me for allowing myself to get wet, not telling him that I was umbrella-less, not texting him to go to me, etc. ;o;

I thought that shower in the rain was quite enjoyable -- as it was happening, at least. I used to do it a lot when I was a kid! My mom always said: "Its okay to get wet under the rain as long as you get really wet. If its only a drizzle, then you'll get sick."

My mom's a doctor, you see, so I trusted her. And you know, she was right. I never got sick when I took a bath in pouring rain. Except I forgot that she'd add:

"...Also, you have to dry yourself properly with a towel and take a bath afterwards."

So I followed step one but had no means to follow step two and three. Plus, himitsu_no_hime, who was at the tambayan at the time, reminded me that rain in the city is no longer clean as it used to be.

Anyway, the point of that whole backstory is that I am sick. Well, the fever is barely there (it comes and goes but thank goodness its never high) but the colds and cough are horrible, and my chest feels as if a cat has been using my lungs/ribcage to sharpen its claws. Ugh. Why.

My mom gave me meds already and I wish coughs were like headaches who go away at a single dose of a painkiller. But no, they take time, stupid stubborn cough bacteria. FIGHT THEM MY LEUKOCYTES FIGHT THEM!

Yesterday, it was UP AME's Miting De Avance.

I think all the candidates did very well! I know all of us were nervous at first, but I think everyone was able to pull through. Now, its up to the General Assembly to cast their votes! Oh, and me too~ I'll be casting my vote when I go to school.

My goal is to defeat Mr. Abstain fu fu fu. *o* I must not let him reach his invisible hands to the public!

Specific Plan of Action
For the Publicity Committee

of the University of the Philippines Anime Manga Enthusiasts
Academic Year 2009 - 2010

To the General Assembly of UP AME:
I, Tiffany Beatrice San Juan, inducted into this organization as part of Batch Shemen (2007), hereby present my specific plan of action (SPOA) for the Publicity Committee (PUBCOM). Everything within this composition was written with the duties and roles of PUBCOM in mind, as stated by the UP AME Constitution of 2004:

The PUBLICTY COMMITTEE (PUBCOM) shall:

i. Be in-charge of all publicity work of the organization.
ii. Release statements concerning organization policies and official stand on issues as the need arises, with the approval of the GA.
iii. Devise and enforce rules and regulations regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the tambayan and its immediate vicinity.

With this, I begin my (kinda long but please read!) SPOA.

I. Publicity
PUBCOM shall be in-charge of all publicity work of the organization and its activities. Proper and quality publicity is necessary for the organization to function for the public and with the public. Materials like flyers or posters not only inform people that we are active and that we have activities in store for them, but it also presents that we, as a special interest organization, are still continuing to uphold our goals to spread the anime and manga love with the greater community.

Now, for the improvement of this organization’s publicity, I will:

A. Utilize the committee’s time properly, for better results

It has come to my attention that most publicity materials (pubmats, for short) are made late, and the common reason is that the committee receives notifications regarding the organization’s events quite late, also. With the help of the EXECOM and the General Assembly, I will make this committee more up-to-date with AME events by: (1) as an EXECOM member, always attending EXECOM meetings (or sending a proxy if I am not available) to know the events the org will particpate in, (2) as well as constantly holding PUBCOM meetings at least two weeks before an event is scheduled to take place.

This way, the committee members will be well-informed of the work they need to do early on. I understand that my members and I are only students and have our own academic schedules, so I make this thrust not only just so that the pubmats will be excellent in quality, but also so that schedules may be set properly and academic needs won’t be compromised by pubmat making, and vice-versa.

B. Have Template Making

I would like the publicity committee to cooperate in making templates of certain common org activities (filmshowings, merch booths, etc) so that these may be at their disposal in times of dire emergency. It is not my intention to compromise creativity for speed* (as templates would look all the same and prevent the former) but there really are times when pubmats are needed “tomorrow” or “right now”, and the committee is ill-informed of the need. Although I am to prevent this by IA of this SPOA, my judgement says a backup plan would not hurt, either.

It should be noted, though, that the use of templates should be the very last resort of the committee when it comes to the making of pubmats.

*Of course, the templates can be made dynamic, and light tweaking may change designs, so as not too look too repetitive. Creativity can still be attained, with the needed speed.

II. Tambayan Maintenance
Under the UP AME Constitution of 2004, the duties regarding tambayan cleanliness lies with PUBCOM, and as it’s head, I should properly facilitate this activity. With this in mind, I present this proposal to the General Assembly:

A. Committee Rotation for Tambayan Clean Up

For every month, a committee will be assigned to clean the tambayan, preferably doing one major clean-up every two weeks (on Fridays is highly recommended). The committee will be required to have at least 50% of its members turn up (unless all other members have a valid excuse, which PUBCOM will re-check through MEMCOM), else be punished by handling the next month’s clean-up duties, as well.

This doesn’t mean that the other people in the tambayan won’t need to clean. It’s a common sickness that if there’s an assigned committee everybody else will leave the duties to that committee alone. This shouldn’t be so. To prevent this and as well as to monitor the assigned committee, I will assign PUBCOM members to be present during the clean-up to encourage all members to participate; and, whenever possible, I will also be physically present to facilitate.

III. Committee Activities

A. Team System

I believe efficiency within the committee can be improved through team systems. This means that the members of PUBCOM, including myself, will be divided into two or three teams, wherein each team is equipped with members that, upon cooperating, are fully capable of presenting a finished product. Then, consultation between teams/members will occur, and editing will still be in order if needed.

The benefits of a team system are many, and not to mention crucial. Not only does it promote cooperation between members, divide work and stress, but it also enables the committee to create several publicity materials at once. I deem this extremely necessary in times wherein several AME activities are happening simultaneously (e.g the first semester: there are fair preparations, filmshowings, ACLE, etc) and due pubmats are needed for all.

B. Training Workshops

To gain more skill and expertise in pubmat making and related fields, PUBCOM will sponsor extensive training workshops for its members, and, later on, for its applicants, as well as for other AME members that are interested. To ensure good quality for this workshop, besides the current PUBCOM members who are capable of handling this kind of event, I will, with the cooperation of ARESCOM, invite some PUBCOM alumni and other possible guests who can teach and tutor the new and old members with techniques relating to: drawing, coloring, layouting, and things of the like that will enable a PUBCOM member to develop his specialty, or even become a more well-rounded individual.

C. Storage of Pubmats (arranging and et cetera), raw files and soft copies

This has already begun this year, thanks to Ms. Hanna Frialde, PUBCOM’s current head (2008-2009), and her reliable members. I would like to ensure the continuation of this project by constantly maintaining the online storage (hosted by mediafire.com) as well as by making it protocol for PUBCOM members to upload finished pubmats there.

A back-up would also be necessary.

D. Committee Projects

I have several committee projects in mind, all for which are for the benefit of the organization, its publicity, and its members. By promoting AME we are not only promoting the organization in itself, but we are showing to the public that there exists a group who love anime and manga enough to create activities and events solely for that love, and are willing to share those ideas they made to the greater anime and manga enthusiasts community.

PUBCOM projects will not only uphold these organization-oriented ideals, but also provide the committee members with a sense of camaraderie with each other – so that they can improve teamwork and learn how to make quality products while still working efficiently within a group.

Some committee projects which I plan to propose are: annual or semestral road painting, online portfolio for pubmats, PUBCOM properties, creation of AME merchendise (planners, fans, button pins, etc.) among others.

E. Inter-Committee Projects

It is always best to keep an organization running with good relations among members and committees. PUBCOM, though understandably given its unique purpose, still cannot function alone. Some activities and events require definite contact with the other committees inside the organization. As PUBCOM head, I will ensure good relations with other committee heads and their members, minimize internal conflict, and promote effectivity through sincere cooperation.

Some inter-committee projects that I plan to propose are:  

1. With ARESCOM - training and assistance concerning website design, online account revival of AME’s DeviantArt account, assistance with the possible project of an organized online portfolio of pubmats, and other PUBCOM activities that may need the help of ARESCOM in terms of external relations (online) and alumni contact

2. With DOCOM - provide training and assistance with the layouting of Kami To Ki

3. With MARCOM – extend assistance and publicity for external activities like the merchandise booth

4. With FINCOM – cooperate in managing the possible AME merchandise PUBCOM might produce through proper pricing, accounting, and related factors

5. With PROPCOM – extend assistance and publicity for external activities like filmshowings and exhibits, cooperate in managing PUBCOM properties (pubmats and others)

6. With MEMCOM – extend assistance and publicity for external activities like the application period

7. With LOGICOM – cooperate and train PUBCOM members to know the needed LOGICOM work for posting pubmats within the university in case the need for that knowledge will arise

Just finished watching the Oscar's today!

I wasn't too surprised when Slumdog Millionaire won Best Picture -- I was betting on that or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, because they had, after all, snagged most of the awards related to film pre and post-production. Anyway, congrats to the staff of Slumdog Millionaire! I haven't seen the film myself, but judging at the amount of Oscars they got -- from Sound Mixing to Editing -- it must be something worth watching.

And as my mother said, "This definitely puts India on the map." (Of course, they're already on the map, er, literally -- but this win is sure to bring pride to everybody in the Indian film industry.)

What surprised me was why The Dark Knight had so little nominations. I mean, less than I expected. I thought it was a great film, in all sorts of ways, but I guess that might be just me and my preferences. In any case, the late Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor, which I think he deserves after that splendid and and not to mention very horrid performance as Joker.

Heath's family received his Oscar for him, and I think their speech made a lot of people teary-eyed. Including Brad Pitt! And me!

Hugh Jackman was amusing as a host ("I don't exactly have a joke for Brad and Angelina, but I feel compelled to mention them at least five times in this show,"*), and I'd also like to mention the appearances of these people on the stage: Anne Hathaway, Ben Stiller (in a costume to boot), Reese Witherspoon (who made a joke about Ben Stiller), Will Smith, Robert De Niro and many others.

Many others -- re: VANESSA HUDGENS AND ZACK EFRON. I appropriately did this expression D: at their appearance. I mean, I'm not a hater -- if I were to choose between liking them or hating them I'd definitely say I liked them; but wtfudge, Vanessa Hudgens in fishnet stockings.

With Beyonce, too. Strutting her stuff. Wao.

Sean Penn won Best Actor for Milk. I'm not sure what exactly that movie is about, but I'm pretty sure it has gay rights chained to it. I felt proud of Sean Penn for standing up for something he believed in right there at the stage, when he got his Oscar.

As Robert De Niro did say, "How, for so many years, did Sean Penn get all those straight roles?"*

This is probably my first time watching the Academy Awards from start to finish (except well--see the edits below), and I must say it was kinda fun! :3 Only I'd rather do without all those commercials. (Then again, wouldn't we all?)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was only shown for like, a split second -- in the short presentation of Action Movies of 2008. Is Narnia even supposed to be in that category? ;o; Oh well, I got my William Moseley swinging a sword fix during that split second, so...

Because y'all deserve that and I missed you guys terribly!

It's my first revival post for the year 2009, and I know it probably won't be the last (as we all know school and rl hates our precious parallel universe that is the internet), but here I am, trying hard again to survive. I won't allow my paid account go to waste anymore (it already rotted away with uselessness for about a month; and that, I believe, is enough).

I couldn't go LJ-ing prior to this, though, due to several annoying reasons:

1) Academics (it'll never end)
2) I got food-poisoned (but that was only for a week -- it was tapsilog, of all things)
3) I reformatted my computer (for a fresh start during the new year -- and really, Quicktime was giving me hell)
4) I reformatted it again (this time it was iTunes)
5) I deleted all my data and "wrote zeros to my disk" (I think its computer lingo for "YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY DATA BACK, no, seriously.")
6) I reformatted it again (this time it was the WHOLE SYSTEM HANGING ON ME)
7) ...Left4Dead ate my brain (zooombies, no -- seriously -- they do eat brains)

As you can see from 3-6, I went through quite some time trying to fix my baby (aka AYUMU -- aka Spoiled White Macbook of Aya who runs on Tiger but wants to run on Leopard). I refused to bring it to the hospital (iStore, wherever) because I knew, as I was its mother, that I could fix it on my own until further symptoms arose. ~~Actually I'm saving for a PS3 so I didn't want to spend as much as possible.~~

Anyway, the toil is finally over, and my precious darling is finally up and working again! Although it did crash a few times (thrice if you want details), but I identified the problem and saw to it that it wouldn't be a bother for now. So, here we are! All seems well; and as you can see, I can write a lengthy entry without any distractions.

Now, since that rant is done and now a part of yesterdays-entries-to-be, let me get back to the reason of why I thought of posting at my beloved personal journal in the first place. What other reason could there be but: to see how things were going at this side of the virtual world.

So, how are you guys? ;3

I know I probably missed a terrible lot, so I'm dying to hear from all of you~ o/

I'm not going to last a week with this going on, admittedly.

Every night is almost just like every other night ever since (first in a gap of months, then every few weeks, then every other day; but not everyday, I like to think I'm a little stronger than that). My head is fine but everything else is not; its kind of frustrating. My eyes are suffering the most expense. I need my glasses again to concentrate in class, but unfortunately they're a tad bit lost and I don't know if I should spend the rest of my early morning looking for them.

It just makes me sad that in the entirety of it all---

Uho!

I know I've asked so much from you guys, but if you all wouldn't mind, I need srs cosplay help. I'm going to cosplay Shirley Fenette from Code Geass with a group (composing of the usual people I <3).

I ordered a wig MONTHS ago but the wig place said it got delayed, then a few months after that they said it never got shipped, then after pestering them some more with my customer rights they said the wig never existed, and so I should just opt for a refund. Wtfudge, right? Anyway, I still love that wig place but I'll never order from them again; they're much better off selling what's on display.

So!

I need a Shirley wig. D: I know should've ordered online months ago but if the wig that I originally ordered came I would've been forced to pay for it, and I didn't want to waste money on buying two wigs for the same character. I have a few choices (from ebay!) already, though; and I've asked some of my friends for help and opinions. But, after seeing some Shirley cosplayers online my mind got confused again.

Ufuuu, help please?

I know choice 3 is pretty far off from Shirley's hair color but a lot of Shirley cosplayers seem to be using that kind of wig, and some of them looked pretty good. And choice 1 has curls but lol the color was close to one reference image I had; and also, the curls do kind of look pretty. *o* /random shiny distraction

If you have other wig suggestions than the ones I found I'd love to see them, too.

Due to the lack of a Shirley wig I had to cosplay Milly Ashford instead during our org's con last November 8, 2008: AME 8TH AVENUE: Taking the Streets of Harajuku. I must mention that this "Plan B" could not have been accomplished without avishi's assistance, as it was she who lent me the wig. THANK YOU SO MUCH, dear~

Okay, I look gay and yes I am a fail! Milly but a-at least it was fun?

My post was at the AME 8th Avenue Cafe (aka the best cafe in the world lol) and our theme was Code Geass, thus the need for epic costumes. We had a Lelouch (wuzu), a Suzaku ~~another Lelouch/or maybe a Rivalz~~ (alabapoy) and an Anya (sappherine). We were also supposed to have a C.C (kyoy) but due to epic wig problems (wig problems are a plague, I swear), Kyoy had to postpone her C.C cosplay for another time, so she joined Nigel, Ana-pon and Neil in becoming sexy Harajuku waiters/waitresses.

In any case, I'll post more pictures soon! (I always seem to say that D: so far I lack Mangaholixxx Pictures, OtakonEK pictures, and now this.) I'll try to do them all at one post.

Speaking of semesters, a new one is coming up. Enrollment is beginning, and what. I'm still stuck with my measly FOUR UNITS after FOUR BATCH RUNS. So, okay. I didn't get to enlist properly the first time, never got to enlist the second time, and the third and fourth one were just failures.

I never did get to announce that the yearbook was out, but it seems I didn't need to, even as a staffer, 'cause everyone else started spreading the word anyway. Yay for Paulinian connections! o/

In any case, despite the yearbook being, as kyoy coined, "The Best Yearbook in the Universe" (to which I'm sure all SPCP 07 would maybe agree), it is definitely not perfect.

I regret to inform you that there are errors in some of the pages in the new yearbook. The first is in our dear Lesley Aldaba's page. If you have (or have not) noticed, below her name is a mere blank. That blank should have contained these words:

I am posting this as a recognition of Lesley's efforts in high school.

The second is in the staffers' page. Aylene Sarmiento's surname was spelled as "Sarniento".
